Sana Fakhar was born on 16 June 1979 in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. Raised in Punjab, she attended Aligarh School in Multan and later studied at Queen Mary University in Lahore. She is Pakistani by nationality and practices Islam. Her birth name was Sana Nawaz; after marrying she became known as Sana Fakhar.

Career

Sana began her career in the entertainment industry as a model in 1995. She moved into film acting with her Lollywood debut in the 1997 movie Sangam. Over the following years she worked across Pakistani cinema and television as well as taking a small role in the Bollywood film Kaafila (2007). Her performance in the 2002 film Yeh Dil Aap Ka Huwa earned significant audience appreciation and a Best Film Actress award at the Lux Style Awards in 2003.

In 2012 she expanded her work on-screen by appearing in television, beginning with the serial Jeena Sikha Do Hamein. Sana continued to take on both film and TV projects and was part of the cast of Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya (a Punjabi film released in 2013). Her television work includes a supporting role in Alif Allah Aur Insaan, for which she won a Hum Award in 2018 for Best Supporting Actress.
