Sana Javed was born on 25 March 1993 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and holds Pakistani nationality. Her family later returned to Pakistan after the birth of her younger brother. She grew up with ties to Karachi, where she attended Karachi Grammar School and later studied at the University of Karachi. Her paternal roots trace back to Hyderabad, India.

Sana began her career working as a model and appeared in television commercials before moving into acting. Her first television appearance came in 2012 in a supporting role in the serial Mera Pehla Pyar. That same year she appeared in the spiritual romantic drama Shehr-e-Zaat.
