Early life and background

Sanam Saeed Mirza was born on 2 February 1985 in London, England, and moved with her family to Karachi when she was a child. She grew up in Karachi, attended Bay View High School and L'Ecole College, and completed her studies in film and theatre in Lahore. Her father worked as an interior designer and her mother, Parween Mody Saeed, was an arts teacher.

Career

Sanam began working professionally in entertainment at a young age. She started modelling as a teenager and became a VJ for Indus Music (now MTV Pakistan) at 17. Her stage work includes several productions with Made For Stage Productions, beginning with Chicago in 2007 and continuing with shows such as Mamma Mia!, Carnage and Grease.

On television, Sanam built a strong reputation through a string of roles across popular Urdu-language dramas. Early appearances included Daam (2010) and Mera Naseeb (2011). Her portrayal of Kashaf Murtaza in Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012–2013) brought her widespread recognition and established one of Pakistani television’s most celebrated on-screen pairings alongside Fawad Khan. Other TV credits include Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Talkhiyan, Kadoorat, Ek Kasak Reh Gayi, Shukk, Firaaz, Dil Banjaara and Deedan.

Sanam has also worked in film, making her cinematic debut in Bachaana (2016) as Aalia. Her filmography includes Mah-e-Meer, Dobara Phir Se, Rahm, Azad, Cake and Ishrat Made In China. She received industry awards and recognition for both television and film performances, including honours from the Lux Style Awards, Tarang House Full Awards and Eastern Eye, among others.

In addition to acting, Sanam has contributed to music projects. She appeared as a backing vocalist in the third season of Coke Studio Pakistan, providing background vocals on tracks such as Alif Allah (Jugni), Aisha and Chori Chori.
