Early life and backgroundSanchari Vijay was born Vijay Kumar Basavarajaiah on 18 July 1983 in Panchanahalli, Kadur in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. Raised in a family with artistic roots—his father Basavarajaiah worked as an actor and his mother Gwramma was a folk singer—Vijay combined formal education with artistic interests from an early age. He completed an engineering degree and also held a diploma in computer science. After graduation he worked as a college lecturer before moving to Bangalore, where he joined the theatre group Sanchari and began focusing more seriously on performance.
