Sandiip Sikcand was born on 26 September 1970 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He grew up in the city and attended St. Andrew's High School before studying commerce at Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics. From an early age he showed entrepreneurial instincts, starting an export garments business at 17 and running it for about a decade before moving toward a career in the creative arts.

Career

Sikcand launched a theatre company called Masquerade when he was 27, producing and directing stage plays. He transitioned into television, joining Balaji Telefilms where he was first named Associate Creative Head and shortly thereafter promoted to Creative Head. By 2000 he was working on the long-running family drama Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii as a creative director, while also taking supporting acting roles on television.

Over the following years Sikcand combined creative leadership and acting. He served as creative director on several high-profile Hindi television shows, including Kasamh Se, Amrit Manthan and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. In 2006 he became Chief Creative Officer at Sony Entertainment Television and was the channel’s Programming Head when Bigg Boss premiered the same year; he has remained connected to the series, appearing as a guest in later seasons.

As an actor he has taken notable supporting and character parts. On television he appeared in serials such as Kesar and Kkehna Hai Kuch Mujhko. His film debut came in Murder 2 (2011), in which he played the role of Nirmala Pandit.
