Early life and backgroundSangay Tsheltrim was born on 10 March 1982 in Phuentsholing, a town in Bhutan’s Chukha district. He attended Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School before moving to India for military training. In 2001 he joined the National Defence Academy in Pune and later trained further at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
Career
Tsheltrim began his professional life in the Royal Bhutan Army, joining in December 2005. He later served as a captain with the Royal Body Guards and spent several years assigned to duties serving His Majesty the King and the Royal Family of Bhutan. He took voluntary retirement from military service in 2013 to pursue a career in bodybuilding and fitness.
As a competitor, he has won national and international medals. His achievements include multiple medals at Bhutan’s National Bodybuilding Championships and podium finishes at Asian bodybuilding events in Uzbekistan (2015) and Macau (2016). He also won the Mr. Bhutan title in 2017.
Transitioning into film and entertainment, Tsheltrim wrote the script for the Bhutanese film Singye (2018) and received recognition as Best Debut Actor for that work. He has since expanded his screen career into Indian cinema, appearing in the Hindi film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai (2021) in a role credited as Lota, the Hindi documentary Rohingya – People from Nowhere (2021) as Major Arjun, the Telugu film Agent (2023) as Khalid, and the Bollywood film Jawan (2023) credited as Juju. He was also featured in the Bhutanese film Lingpoen (March 2023) and appeared in the music video for the Hindi song Raat Baki by Iulia V Vantur (February 2023).
Outside acting, Tsheltrim is a fitness entrepreneur: he owns a gym called Thimphu Muscles Factory in Bhutan and remains active in promoting fitness and bodybuilding. He is also described as a dancer, boxer and martial arts practitioner.
