Early life and background
Sania Mirza was born on 17 May 2005 in Jasovar village, Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a family where her father worked as a TV mechanic and her mother is a homemaker, she grew up alongside two older brothers. Mirza completed her schooling in local institutions: Pandit Chintamani Inter College through tenth grade and Guru Nanak Girls Inter College for eleventh and twelfth. She studied in the science stream and topped her school and district in the Uttar Pradesh twelfth-standard examinations.

Career
After finishing twelfth grade, Mirza enrolled at Centurion Defence Academy in Mirzapur to prepare for the National Defence Academy (NDA) entrance exam with the goal of becoming a fighter pilot. She did not succeed on her first attempt but qualified on her second attempt in 2022. In that intake she secured 63rd rank overall and was second among those selected for fighter pilot training, in a cohort where 19 seats were allocated for girls and two seats specifically for fighter pilots.

On 27 December 2022 Mirza joined the NDA at Khadakwasla, Pune to begin her formal training. She has credited her parents and her coach at Centurion Defence Academy, Shishir Dixit, for supporting her preparation and success.
