Early life and background

Sapna Rana was born on 6 May 1980 and grew up in Mumbai. She completed her schooling at Carmel Convent School and Christ Church School in Mumbai. For higher education she attended Hindu College at Delhi University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature. She follows Hinduism and is a vegetarian. Career

Rana began her career in radio in December 2002, joining Radio Mirchi as a radio jockey and producer. She co-hosted the Hello Mumbai breakfast show during that early period and worked at Radio Mirchi until 2004. After leaving on-air duties she moved into roles that combined production and event coordination, joining Entertainment Network (India) Ltd. in December 2004 as a project manager. In that capacity she coordinated between event agencies, television partners, creative teams and artists for major events including the 50th Filmfare Awards and the Femina Miss India pageant.

In 2005 she worked with Miditech on Sony Entertainment Television’s reality series Fame Gurukul as an associate producer and contestant manager. She returned to Radio Mirchi in January 2006, taking on leadership responsibilities as cluster programming head and assistant vice president for the U.P. and Rajasthan markets. By November 2007 she was Head of Programming and Assistant Vice President for Radio Mirchi in Delhi and the National Capital Region.

Rana relocated back to Mumbai in July 2010 and joined Radio Mirchi Digital as head of content and assistant vice president of the creative department. Over the next several years she advanced within the organization: in December 2013 she was promoted to Head of Programming, and in January 2016 she became Senior Vice President for West and Central regional programming.

In March 2019 Rana took on the role of Content Head at Saregama India Ltd., a position she held until July 2021. Throughout her career she has been recognized for work in programming and campaign engagement, including awards tied to her Radio Mirchi roles such as a Global Award for Brand Excellence in 2011 and a Global Customer Engagement Award in 2018.
