Sara Ann Lee was born on June 7, 1992, and grew up in Hope Township, Michigan. She attended Meridian High School in Sanford, Michigan, and went on to study diagnostic medical sonography at Saginaw Valley State University and Delta College. Raised in a Christian household, Lee developed an early interest in strength sports and later competed successfully in powerlifting events.

Career

Lee first reached a broad audience in 2015 when she entered WWE’s reality competition Tough Enough. Selected from thousands of auditionees, she won the contest and received a cash prize and a one‑year contract with WWE. Following her victory, she completed professional training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Her first in‑ring appearance came at a WWE live event on January 30, 2016, when she competed in a six‑Diva tag match. Over the course of 2016 she appeared on WWE NXT and took part in multiple live matches. Lee competed under the ring name Hope, a moniker inspired by her hometown.
