Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado was born on January 26, 1992, in Fairfield, California. Raised in a family that moved periodically to access schools and medical care for her brother, she spent parts of her childhood watching professional wrestling on television and studying the performers she admired. Her mother is Judith Varnado. Sasha attended online or virtual school.

Career
Kaestner-Varnado began her wrestling career on the independent circuit under the ring name Mercedes KV. She signed with WWE and made her NXT debut on December 12, 2012. She later moved to WWE’s main roster, appearing on RAW beginning July 13, 2015.
