Saurabh Dwivedi Biography

Saurabh Dwivedi is an Indian journalist best known as a founding editor of The Lallantop, a Hindi news and media portal within the India Today Group. Trai

Early life and background

Saurabh Dwivedi was born on 22 April 1983 in Chamari village in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a family with political connections—his paternal grandfather was active in the Indian National Congress—Dwivedi grew up in the Orai area and completed his early schooling locally. He developed a strong interest in Hindi literature that shaped his academic and professional choices.

He earned a Master of Arts in Hindi from Jawaharlal Nehru University, where a professor encouraged him to explore journalism after being impressed by his writing. Following that advice, Dwivedi completed a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication and also undertook further studies that include an MPhil in Hindi literature and media. Records indicate he began, but did not complete, a PhD program.

Career

Dwivedi began his journalism career as an intern with Star News in March 2007. Over the next years he worked across a range of news organizations, including Live India as a reporter, the Times Group as a senior copy editor and correspondent, and Dainik Bhaskar as a news editor. In June 2013 he joined the India Today Group as a senior associate editor.

In 2016 he was one of six co-founders of The Lallantop, a Hindi news and media web portal that later came under the India Today Group. As founding editor, Dwivedi established a visible on-camera presence and became known for presenting news and commentary in an informal, conversational style.

At The Lallantop he has hosted several of the outlet’s YouTube programmes, including The Lallantop Show with Saurabh Dwivedi, Kitabwala, and Netanagari. His editorial and on-screen work has earned industry recognition: his show Political Kisse won a Digipub award in 2017, and he was named Best Anchor on Digital News Channel at the ENBA awards in 2019. In October 2019 he also appeared as an expert panellist on the television game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Public profile

Dwivedi’s background in Hindi literature and media has informed his public persona and the editorial voice of the platforms he leads. He is described as having developed strong on-camera communication skills over time; accounts note that as a child he was camera-shy but later became comfortable in front of the lens.

Personal life

Saurabh Dwivedi is married to Gunjan; the couple married in 2010 and have two children, a son and a daughter named Gaura. His father, Ravikant Dwivedi, served as a professor and has been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Saurabh’s brother Abhay Dwivedi works as a director at Infopark, Jalaun.

Dwivedi’s listed personal details include a height of approximately 177 cm (about 5 feet 10 inches), black hair and black eyes. He practices yoga as part of his fitness routine and is described as someone who drinks alcohol socially.

Controversies

In January 2020 Dwivedi faced criticism over a social media post that drew backlash from supporters of a political party. He subsequently apologized, characterizing the post as an attempt at sarcastic humor.

As of the most recent available information, Dwivedi continues to serve in editorial roles with The Lallantop and the India Today Group and remains active on The Lallantop’s YouTube channel where he hosts multiple programmes.
