Early life and background

Saurav Gurjar was born on 5 June 1984 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He grew up in that region and later attended Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, Haryana, where he completed a Master of Physical Education. From a young age he trained in combat sports; during his college years he studied boxing and subsequently began preparing for kickboxing competition.

Career

Gurjar built a competitive combat-sports résumé in kickboxing, winning several state and national level titles between 2007 and 2009. His achievements on the regional and national circuits include gold medals at state championships and victories at national events held in cities such as Visakhapatnam, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar.

In 2011 he moved into professional wrestling with Total Nonstop Action’s India project, Ring Ka King, where he performed under the ring name Deadly Danda. During that period he shared the ring with established international names in the sport.

His physical presence and stature opened doors in Indian television. In 2013 Gurjar made his acting debut on the series Mahabharat, portraying the role of Bheem — a part for which casting directors cited his build and notable height.
