Sayantani Ghosh was born on 6 September 1985 in Kolkata, India. She grew up in her hometown and completed a degree in English Literature. From an early age she trained in dance and pursued modelling, winning the title of Miss Calcutta before moving into acting.

Career
Sayantani’s screen career began in television in 2002 with a supporting role as Antara in the Star Plus drama Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. After establishing herself on television she expanded into Bengali cinema, making her film debut in the 2005 movie Raju Uncle and appearing in the Bengali films Swapno and Sangharsha in 2006.

On television she has played a range of parts across genres. She is widely recognised for portraying Amrita in the Zee TV supernatural series Naaginn (2007–2009). Other notable TV work includes parts in Mahabharat, Naamkarann and Naagin 4. She returned to mainstream TV in 2020 as a lead in the Sony SAB series Tera Yaar Hoon Main.

Sayantani has also taken part in reality and variety programming. In 2008 she competed on Ek Se Badhkar Ek, in 2012 she entered Bigg Boss Season 6 (leaving in the third week), and in 2014 she was a contestant on the dance show Dare 2 Dance. She has appeared on comedy talk and sketch programmes such as Comedy Nights with Kapil and Comedy Classes.
