Early life and background

Sayli Salunkhe was born on October 10 and raised in Kalyan, Maharashtra, in a Maharashtrian family. She attended Rita Memorial School in Kalyan and later studied at K. M. Agrawal College. To pursue performance more seriously she also trained at SRM Film School in Thane.

She developed an early interest in dance and music, training in dance from a young age and taking part in skits and dramas through her school years. Those early experiences and encouragement from peers helped steer her toward acting and formal training in theatre and performance.

Career

Salunkhe began her screen career in Marathi television. Her Marathi debut came with the series Chhatriwali (2018), where she played the character Aakansha. A chance appearance in a music video led to a production worker suggesting television as a path, which opened the door to that first role.

She transitioned to Hindi television with a role in Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali (2021) as Keerti Rao. In 2022 she appeared in two Hindi shows: Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai, in which she portrayed the character Indu, and Spy Bahu on Colors TV where she played Drishti Abhishek Singh. Working in Hindi presented challenges at first; she has spoken about improving her Hindi diction and gaining confidence in both Hindi and Marathi over time.

In 2023 Salunkhe took on a lead role in the Star Plus drama Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si opposite Mohit Malik. She attended workshops to sharpen her skills before taking the part. Director Rajan Shahi cast her after hearing the distinctive quality of her voice, which suited the role of Vandana. Salunkhe has said that portraying Vandana allowed her to explore a different side of her craft and compared the experience to a major career milestone.
