Early life and backgroundKang Seul-gi was born on 10 February 1994 in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Raised in Ansan, she attended Ansan Byeolmang Middle School and later studied at the School of Performing Arts Seoul. Seulgi is South Korean by nationality and grew up with an older brother, Kang Ga-ram.

Seulgi entered SM Entertainment’s trainee program at a young age and trained for several years before debuting.
