Shadaab Khan was born on 20 September 1973 in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra. Raised in a family with deep roots in Hindi cinema and literature, he belongs to an Afghani Pashtun lineage. His father was the late actor Amjad Khan and his mother is Shehla Khan. Artistic pursuits run in the family: his paternal grandfather was actor Jayant (Zakaria Khan) and his maternal grandfather was the writer-director-actor Akhtar ul Iman. Shadaab grew up in Mumbai and attended Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School in Juhu.

Shadaab Khan’s screen journey began as a child artist with an appearance in the 1985 film Pyaari Bhabhi. As an adult, he moved into leading and supporting roles in Hindi films through the 1990s and early 2000s.
