Shaheer Sheikh was born on 26 March 1984 in Bhaderwah, Jammu & Kashmir, India. Raised in a middle‑class family, he completed his schooling at Hari Singh Higher Secondary School in Jammu and went on to study law at New Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth University in Pune, earning an L.L.B. degree. During his college years he took on part‑time work, played cricket for a club in Jammu and also tried his hand at photography.

Career
Sheikh began his on‑screen journey with television, making early appearances in shows such as Sanya. After working briefly at a law firm in Pune following graduation, he moved into modelling and advertising before successfully auditioning for television roles. A string of supporting parts led to wider recognition with the role of Anant Bajpai in Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal (2011), for which he received industry awards.

His profile rose substantially when he portrayed Arjuna in the 2013 mythological series Mahabharat; the part required a physical transformation, for which he gained additional weight.
