Shaji Choudhary was born on 7 July 1972 in Dodwari, Rajasthan. He grew up in a large family as one of six brothers and a sister. His parents are Roopnarayan Choudhary and Rampyari Choudhary. He attended St. Soldier Public School and later studied at Rajasthan University. At a young age he married and moved to Jaipur with his elder brother when he was about fourteen.

Career

Choudhary began his screen career with small parts in Bollywood films. His earliest noted appearance came in Main Hoon Na (2004) where he had a brief cameo. He also worked on the film Husn Bewafa and went on to appear in the historical drama Jodha Akbar (2008) in a role as one of Emperor Akbar’s generals, Adham Khan. That film brought him wider visibility and helped establish him as a working character actor.

Across the following years he continued to take supporting roles in major releases. In 2014 he played the bodyguard of Tapasvi Maharaj in the film PK. He later joined the cast of the Amazon Prime crime drama Mirzapur as Maqbool Khan, the trusted henchman of Kaleen Bhaiya. The role of Maqbool raised his profile among streaming audiences and he returned for the show’s second season.
