Early life and background

Shaleen Brijmohan Bhanot, professionally known as Shalin Bhanot, was born on 15 November 1983 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his formal graduation in Madhya Pradesh. Bhanot is Indian by nationality and is often described as a trained dancer who studied with established choreographers. He has also pursued further acting training, including an acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in Los Angeles and coaching from Michelle Danner.

Career

Bhanot began his on-screen journey in the mid-2000s. He took part in MTV Roadies early on and made his Hindi film debut in the 2006 film Pyare Mohan. Around the same period he appeared in a string of television projects: serials such as Ayushmaan, Kulvaddhu, Naaginn, Sangam and Air Hostess established him as a familiar face on Indian television. Over the next decade he took a variety of parts across genres, from horror shows and romantic dramas to mythological series.

His television credits include roles in Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, Dill Mill Gayye, Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhunga, Sajda Tere Pyaar Mein and SuperCops vs Supervillains. He has also portrayed characters in mythological dramas, including Duryodhan in Suryaputra Karn and Ravan in Ram Siya Ke Luv Kush. In 2017 he played Maha Singh in Sher-e-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Beyond television and film, Bhanot has recorded music and appeared in music videos; he sang on the 2015 album Dooba Hooa Hai – Kamasutra and featured in the 2019 video Tujhe Paane Ko. He made his web-series debut in 2019 with The Red Land, in which he played Babloo Singh. He has also taken part in reality programming: he and his then-wife won the 2009 season of Nach Baliye, he joined Box Cricket League as a celebrity cricketer, appeared as a guest on Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi season 10, and entered Bigg Boss season 16 in October 2022.

Outside acting, Bhanot has business interests. He founded Bhanot Creations Private Limited in 2008 and, later, was appointed director of Bhanot Infra Ventures Pvt. Ltd and Prime Land Private Limited in 2017.

The Bombay High Court quashed allegations of physical assault and dowry demands against Bhanot and awarded custody of their son to Dalljiet Kaur. Later litigation related to court-ordered maintenance was reported in 2019.
