Shankar Bhimraj Gadai was born on 3 October 1997 in Maharashtra, India. Raised in a farming family, he attended Jijamata College Of Science And Arts in Bhende, Dnyneshwarnagar, Maharashtra. He began playing kabaddi as a child and joined the kabaddi academy in his village when he was in seventh grade. While still young he balanced work and sport, earning income by working in sugarcane fields and using earnings to support his education and training.
