Shanmukh Jaswanth (YouTuber) Biography

Shanmukh Jaswanth Kandregula is an Indian dancer, actor and YouTuber from Visakhapatnam who rose to recognition through viral videos and web series work. A

Early life and background
Shanmukh Jaswanth Kandregula was born on 16 September 1994 and grew up in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. From an early age he was drawn to performance and took part in school extracurricular activities. He initially enrolled at Amrita School of Engineering in Bengaluru but later left and completed a Bachelor of Business Management at Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM).

Career
Shanmukh launched his YouTube channel on 2 July 2012, posting his first video titled ‘Cadbury Laddu Ad By Shanmukh.’ He gained wider attention in 2013 after appearing in the viral clip “The Viva” by Sabarish Kandregula; his humorous rendition of an illogical optical-fibre definition helped the video spread online. Around the same period he appeared in several lighthearted productions with the VIVA channel, including The Interview by Sabarish Kandregula (2013) and later sketches such as The Big Fat Proposal (2016) and recurring ‘Viva News’ pieces.

As his audience grew, Shanmukh built a reputation as a dancer by uploading covers of Telugu songs and contemporary tracks. Notable dance covers included performances of You and Me, Guvva Gorinka, Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule, Hosanna, Kala Chashma, Bezuban and Me Me. The dance cover of “You and Me” from Khaidi No 150 (2017) was a particular milestone for his visibility. He has said he learned to dance by watching videos online rather than through formal dance training.

Shanmukh’s screen work expanded into short films and web series. His early short-film credits include Seetha I’m Not A Virgin (2017) — later retitled — and Boomerang (2017). He also appeared in Chaturvyuha (2018). He was a cast member in the Telugu sketch series Men Will Be Men (2018), which satirized male behaviour around women. In 2020 he earned broader acclaim for his lead role as “Mr Shannu,” a naive software-employee character in the comedy web series The software devLOVEper. That role won him recognition at the Padmamohana YouTube Awards, where he was named Best Performer – Male for the series.

Shanmukh’s channel milestones include receiving the YouTube Silver Play Button in 2017 for surpassing 100,000 subscribers and the Gold Play Button in October 2020 after exceeding one million subscribers.

Public profile
Shanmukh is known publicly by the nickname Shannu. He is unmarried and has been publicly linked with Deepthi Sunaina, who is also active as a YouTuber, dancer and actress. His family includes his father Apparao Kandregula, mother Umarani Kandregula and his brother Sampath Vinay. Personal details often noted in profiles include a height of approximately 173 cm (5'8"), black eyes and black hair. He follows a non-vegetarian diet.

He has taken part in television reality formats as well: in 2021 he joined the dance-competition series Dance Plus Telugu as a member of the crew Darjeeling Devils, and he also participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 5 the same year.

Public incidents
Shanmukh has been the subject of public controversy on more than one occasion. A 2017 petition criticized the title of his short film Seetha I’m Not A Virgin; the title was subsequently altered. In February 2024, police action at his Telangana apartment resulted in him being booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act after authorities reported finding a quantity of ganja.

Latest updates
As of the latest available information, Shanmukh continues to be active in digital entertainment, with his breakthrough web-series role in The software devLOVEper remaining one of his most recognized projects. He has diversified between dance content, web-series acting and appearances on television reality shows.
