Shashank Singh was born on 21 November 1991 in Bhilai, Madhya Pradesh. He grew up in Bhilai and began playing cricket at the age of eight. Seeking stronger coaching and greater opportunities, he moved to Mumbai in 2008 when he was 17. There he joined the Vidya Paradkar Cricket Academy and trained under coach Vidya Paradkar, whom he credits for major technical improvements and for guiding his development as a cricketer.

After training with Paradkar, Shashank played club cricket with the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. He later pursued higher education at Achariya (Acharya) College in Puducherry, where a source indicates he completed a Master of Commerce degree in 2017.
