Early life and backgroundShashwat Sachdev was born on 1 January 1987 in Jaipur, Rajasthan and raised in a family that valued music. His father, Sudhir Sachdev, worked in the medical education sector and his mother, Mani Sachde, taught philosophy—both encouraged his early musical training. He began formal study of Indian classical music at age four and trained for more than two decades under Ustad Ramzan Khan in the traditional guru–shishya mode. He also studied Western classical piano for eleven years while still in school.
Sachdev completed a law degree at Symbiosis Law School in Pune (2006–2011) before moving to Hollywood in 2011 to pursue opportunities in music production and engineering. While in Los Angeles he worked with established industry figures and gained experience on international projects.
Career
Shashwat Sachdev’s entry into Indian films came after his return to India in 2016. His first credited work as a music composer in Bollywood is the film Phillauri (2017). He went on to compose for Veere Di Wedding (2018) and found widespread recognition for his work on Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), for which both songs and background score attracted particular attention.
Alongside composing, Sachdev has worked as a playback singer on multiple film soundtracks. He contributed vocals to songs in Kaalakaandi (title track, 2018), Veere Di Wedding (2018), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), and Attack: Part 1 (2022). In his independent output he has released singles and albums, including the production album Euphoria And The Following Realties (2021), the single Awaara Ho (2022), and the album Shades of Cashmere (2022) on Extreme Music. Other independent songs listed in his catalog include Kahaniya (2019), Roko Na (2020), Maan Ja (2020), and collaborations such as Sha – Dobara (2021) and Awaara Ho – Dream Pop (2022).
