Shibani Kashyap was born on 12 January 1979 in Kashmir. She grew up attending schools in multiple Indian cities, including Banihal, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Dehradun, Pune, Assam and Delhi. Her formal education culminated in a BA in English Literature from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi.
