Early life and backgroundShikha Malhotra was born on 9 July 1995 in New Delhi, where she was raised and completed her schooling at N.P. Bengali Girls Senior Secondary School in Gole Market. She pursued higher education at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and trained in nursing at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, earning a B.Sc. Honours in Nursing. From an early age she showed an interest in the performing arts: she is a trained Kathak dancer and received classical singing instruction at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in New Delhi. She also writes poetry and paints.
Career
Malhotra’s on-screen career began with a small role in the 2016 Bollywood film Fan, in which she appeared as a TV news anchor. That year she also took a lead role in the Tamil film Senthanal and appeared in a Hindi music video for the song Yaari. In 2017 she had a role in Running Shadi.
Her first prominent lead in Hindi cinema came with the 2020 film Kaanchli: Life in a Slough, in which she played the character Kajri alongside Sanjay Mishra. The performance brought her recognition on the festival circuit and several acting honours in subsequent years.
Beyond film, Malhotra has worked as a host at film and awards events. She served as the host for the Jharkhand International Film Festival & Awards in 2018.
