Shirley Setia was born on 2 July 1995 in Daman, India, into a Hindu family. Her father is Raj Setia, a businessman, and she has a younger brother named Siyam Setia. Her family roots include Hisar, Haryana on her father's side and Goa on her mother's. When Shirley was seven, her family moved from India to Auckland, New Zealand, where she completed her schooling and later earned a degree in Marketing and Information from the University of Auckland. She also studied acting at the New York Film Academy.
