Early life and background

Shivakumar Marihal was born on 7 June 1997 in Belgaum, Karnataka. Raised in an upper–middle–class family, his mother worked as a government school teacher and his father was employed in the transportation department. Because his mother was transferred to different postings, Shivakumar changed schools several times during his childhood. He attended Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 in Belgaum and later Alvas PU College before enrolling at SG Balekundri Institute of Technology. He studied mechanical engineering but did not complete the degree.

As a youngster he studied in both Kannada- and English-medium schools; a mid-school switch in language contributed to an academic setback in seventh grade, after which he took spoken English classes and worked to improve his grades. He grew up enjoying activities such as scuba diving, photography and travel, and is described as a fitness enthusiast who runs, cycles and works out regularly.

Career

Shivakumar began his professional journey in modelling in 2017. A year later he transitioned to television acting, making his Kannada TV debut in 2018 with the Udaya TV serial Manasa Sarovara, in which he played the character Preetham. The same year he entered Telugu television with the serial Mounaraagam, portraying the role of Ankit. His on-screen pairing with actress Priyanka Jain attracted attention and helped increase his recognition among Telugu audiences.

Following those early roles, Shivakumar continued working in Telugu television. In 2021 he took the lead role of Manohar in the serial Intiki Deepam Illalu opposite Dhanya Deepika. He has also participated in television reality programming: in 2023 he appeared alongside Priyanka Jain on the Star Maa dance show Neethone Dance.

Shivakumar’s work on television has been acknowledged by industry groups. In 2020 he received a Best Debut Hero Award from Padmamohana Arts Theatre for his role in Mounaraagam. In 2022 he was honoured with a Best Hero Award at the Star Maa Awards.
