Shivani Bafna Biography
Indian-American entrepreneur, TV host and YouTuber known for her work on AVS TV’s Asian Variety Show, founder of BFN Agency and the podcast Behind Every D
Early life and backgroundShivani Bafna was born on January 5, 1996, in Houston, Texas, into a second‑generation Indian‑American family. Her family moved when she was an infant and she grew up primarily in the United States, with hometown ties to Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Solon High School in Solon, Ohio, and later studied at the University of Michigan, earning a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Communication, and Media Studies.
Raised in a Jain household, Shivani has said her parents presented religion in a low‑pressure way while emphasizing the value of being a good person. She developed an early interest in performing arts: she trained in Kathak for six years, taught dance at age 15, and studied piano for seven to eight years. From childhood she was a devoted fan of Bollywood, which shaped her career ambitions.
Career
Shivani’s media journey began with an internship at MissMalini Publishing in Mumbai in mid‑2014. There she gained early experience in celebrity interviews, event coverage, content writing, and promotional work. After completing that nine‑month internship, she returned to the United States and pursued a series of internships and entry‑level roles in social media, client solutions, strategy, and brand marketing with firms including Everymedia Technologies, Kepler Group, FirstPerson, and Whirlpool Corporation.
Her path back into Bollywood‑focused media started with persistence: she sought entry into AVS TV through deliberate outreach and a short PR stint around the New York Film Festival that earned her a referral. That led to work with AVS TV’s New Jersey office and later an internship and role in the Mumbai office. While with AVS she reported on major industry events such as the IIFA Awards and built on her hosting skills.
In 2018 Shivani moved to Mumbai to pursue hosting full time and became the TV host for the AVS‑Asia Variety Show. In that role she conducted on‑camera interviews with more than two hundred figures from Bollywood and the film industry, including actors, filmmakers and musicians. The show aired on AVS TV and reached broader audiences through Sony TV, raising her public profile across national and international viewers.
Also in 2018 she launched her own YouTube channel to document her experiences working in the industry, discuss her career journey, and share personal perspectives on acting, modeling, influencing, and hosting.
In March 2020 she left AVS to focus on independent projects. In July 2020 she founded BFN Agency, an influencer‑marketing company that manages end‑to‑end campaigns and a network of more than 250 influencers. She followed this with a second venture, Behind Every Dream, launched in January 2021 as a podcast that shares success stories and is distributed on major platforms including Spotify, Podcasts, and iTunes.
Public profile
Shivani is known for blending traditional media experience with digital entrepreneurship. Her on‑camera work with AVS TV—where she interviewed prominent performers and filmmakers—established her credentials as a TV host, while her YouTube channel and podcast extended her reach to a global audience. Her background in dance and music contributes to a broad creative skill set she often references in public appearances.
Personal life
Shivani married Shyam Shah on December 25, 2021. The couple met while in college and had an on‑again, off‑again relationship that later became long‑distance before they became engaged in Paris in January 2020. The wedding followed Hindu rituals and took place in Mumbai; the couple later returned to the United States.
She lists vegetarian food preferences, favors spicy street dishes and rajma chawal among her favorite foods, and identifies actors and films from Bollywood as long‑standing influences. Shivani describes herself as a traveler, prankster, and someone comfortable switching between American and Indian accents as part of her presentation style.
Latest updates
Since leaving AVS in 2020 Shivani has focused on building her businesses and hosting the podcast Behind Every Dream. BFN Agency, founded mid‑2020, and the podcast launched in early 2021 are core to her current professional activity, combining influencer marketing and storytelling formats to showcase creators and achievers.
Her media work continues to draw on a mix of corporate marketing experience, on‑set hosting skills, and a network developed over years of interviewing and covering the Bollywood scene.
