Sibi Thomas Biography

Sibi Thomas is an Indian police officer turned Malayalam film actor and screenwriter from Kanhangad, Kasaragod, Kerala. He made his cinematic debut in 2017

Early life and background

Sibi Thomas was born on 15 December 1972 in Kanhangad, Kasaragod, Kerala. He grew up in his hometown and later attended Nirmalagiri College in Kannur, where he completed a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2003. From a young age he participated in university-level arts festivals and frequently earned top honours in those competitions.

Career

Sibi Thomas has built a dual career as a serving police officer and as a performer in Malayalam cinema. He entered the Kerala Police and by 2003 was appointed Circle Inspector at Adhur police station in Kasaragod. Over the years he received formal recognition for his police work, including a Badge of Honour for Detective Excellency in 2014, the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for meritorious service in 2015, and another Badge of Honour for a special operation in 2019.

Thomas moved into films later in life, making his screen debut in 2017 with Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, in which he played a police inspector. That role brought him wider visibility and led to a string of supporting parts, many of them as law-enforcement characters. In 2018 he appeared as a sub-inspector in Kuttanadan Marpappa and also featured that year in Premasoothram, Kamuki and Oru Kuprasidha Payyan in character roles.

He continued to work steadily: 2019 included appearances in Sidharthan Enna Njan and Happy Sardar; 2020 saw him in Trance as a security person at Esther Villa; and in 2021 he was cast as SP Ashok Varadan in Jai Bhim. In 2020 he expanded his film work into writing, scripting the film Kuttavum Shikshayum.

Thomas has said that playing police officers is a recurring and welcome aspect of his film work, and he regards such roles as ones he is unlikely to turn down given his background and interest in cinema.
