Early life and background

Siddharth Suryanarayan was born on 17 April 1979 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Raised in a Tamil-speaking family, he completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) at Kirori Mal College in New Delhi and later earned an MBA from S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai. During his college years he was active in debating and theatre, serving as president of his college debating team and performing with the Players theatre group. He trained in theatrical skills under Keval Arora and participated in national-level debating events.

Career

Siddharth entered cinema as an actor in the early 2000s. His first credited acting role in Tamil was in Boys (2003), and he went on to establish a multi-lingual film career. Notable early performances include the Telugu film Bommarillu (2006) and the Hindi drama Rang De Basanti (2006), in which his work drew positive attention. He has played leading and supporting parts across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films, with credits that include Kammara Sambhavam (Malayalam, 2018), Kaaviya Thalaivan (Tamil, 2014), Enakkul Oruvan (2015), Aruvam (2019), Chithha (2023) and Maha Samudram (Telugu, 2021).

Beyond acting, Siddharth has worked behind the camera as well. He assisted director Mani Ratnam early in his career and performed an uncredited onscreen role in Kannathil Muthamittal (2002). The 2010 film Striker was notable for becoming the first Indian film to premiere internationally on YouTube the same day as its theatrical release, a project in which Siddharth played Suryakant Sarang.
