Siddharth Desai (Kabaddi) Biography

Siddharth Sirish Desai is an Indian professional kabaddi raider known for his explosive debut in the Pro Kabaddi League and for being the highest-paid pick

Early life and background
Siddharth Sirish Desai was born on 5 December 1991 in Hundalewadi, Kolhapur. Raised in a rural setting, he completed his schooling at Jayprakash Vidyalay in Kini and Shriman VP Desai Jr College in Kowad before earning a B.Sc. in Physics. His family includes his father, Sirish Desai, who worked as a farmer and played kabaddi, and an elder brother, Suraj Desai, who also pursued the sport professionally.

Siddharth’s early exposure to kabaddi came through local coaching in his village. He also spent time with Air India where, under coach Ashok Sinde, he refined his skills and trained alongside established players. A brief stint in the Indian Army followed, after which he returned to focus on kabaddi with the Satej Kabaddi Club in Pune.

Career
Desai came into wider prominence through the Pro Kabaddi League. In 2018 he represented Maharashtra at the senior nationals and was part of the side that won gold—the state’s first in more than a decade. That success helped him break into the PKL.

U Mumba signed Desai and he made an immediate impact in the league. In his time with U Mumba he recorded a standout season that included 218 raid points and three tackle points, and he set the record for the fastest 50 in Pro Kabaddi history (Season 6, 2018). His performances earned him the VIVO Pro Kabaddi Best Debutant award in 2019.

Following his breakthrough, Telugu Titans acquired Desai ahead of PKL season 7. He wore jersey number 8 for the Titans and was coached by L. Srinivas Reddy. The Titans retained him through subsequent seasons, and he continued to compete for the franchise in seasons 8 and 9.

Playing profile and style
At approximately 5 feet 9 inches (175 cm) and around 72 kg, Desai combines agility and strength in his role as a raider. His nickname “Bahubali” highlights his physical presence on the mat, and his discipline in training—including daily workouts and swimming when time allows—has been central to his approach.

Personal life and interests
Desai maintains a musical side outside kabaddi: he plays guitar, sings, and operates a YouTube channel where he posts covers of Bollywood songs. He has described music as a tool that helps him focus and manage stress. He is unmarried.

Desai is an animal lover who advocates for the welfare of strays and owns a pet dog named Buster. He is active on social media and leverages his following to advertise for brands such as Vision 11, Olymp Trade, and XLR8 Sports Nutrition.

Public profile
Desai’s visibility increased not only through his on-field achievements but also because of his PKL auction valuations. He was the most expensive player in the seventh PKL season. His accolades include the Best Debutant award and franchise records such as the most raid points in a single season for the Telugu Titans (217).

Latest updates
Beyond PKL participation across multiple seasons with the Telugu Titans and his earlier stint with U Mumba, recent public details note that he continued playing through seasons 8 and 9 under coach L. Srinivas Reddy. Off the mat he remains engaged with music, social causes involving animals, and brand partnerships.
