Early life and background

Siddharth Kannan was born on 31 March 1979 in New Delhi and spent much of his childhood moving between cities including Kolkata and Lucknow. He attended St. Francis' College in Lucknow and later studied at SVKM’s Mithibai College of Arts in Mumbai. He is of Tamilian ethnicity and practices Hinduism.

Kannan developed an early interest in media and sports; as a child he enjoyed playing tennis and has recounted memories from that time. He moved to Mumbai in 1994, where his media career took shape.

Career

Kannan’s entry into broadcasting came very young. He began as a radio host in the mid-1990s, debuting with Campus Capers on Times FM in 1994 and going on to present other Hindi radio shows such as Thursday Night Take Off and Yamaha First on Times FM, and Purab Paschim Masala on Radio Star. His work on radio earned him early recognition: he was entered in the Limca Book of Records as the youngest radio host in India at age 14.

Over the years Kannan expanded into television and live events while continuing to maintain a strong presence on radio. His television hosting credits include shows such as Santa and Banta Newz Unlimited on Zoom, Planet Bollywood on Zoom, See Taare Mastiii Mein on Mastiii, Ring Ka King on Colors, Star Sports Pro Kabaddi on Star Sports and Super Fight League on Sony ESPN.
