Sidharth Malhotra was born on 16 January 1985 in Delhi, India. Raised in the national capital, he attended Don Bosco School and Navy Children School before enrolling at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, New Delhi, where he completed a B.Com (Hons.). He was involved in drama and sports from a young age and played rugby at club level during his school years.

Malhotra’s early exposure to performance came through television: as a teenager he appeared in the Star Plus series Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan, playing Jaichand.
