Early life and background

Sidharth Shukla was born on 12 December 1980 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a family with roots in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a household where education and practical trades were valued, he completed school at St. Xavier’s High School in Fort, Mumbai, and went on to graduate in interior design from Rachana Sansad School of Interior Design. His father, Ashok Shukla, worked as a civil engineer and was employed by the Reserve Bank of India; his mother is Rita Shukla. He had two sisters, Preeti and Neetu.

From a young age Shukla showed an interest in sports, representing his school in tennis and football. Initially inclined toward a career in interior design, he shifted his focus to modelling during college, a decision that set the stage for his entry into the entertainment industry.

Shukla began his public career as a model and in 2004 became the first Asian winner of the World’s Best Model contest held in Turkey. He appeared in music videos and commercials and walked the ramp at several fashion events before moving into acting.

His television acting debut came in 2008 with the soap Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na, in which he played Shubh Ranawat. He worked in a number of TV serials over the following years and gained widespread recognition for his role as Shivraj Shekhar on the popular Colors TV show Balika Vadhu. He also took part in dance and stunt reality shows, including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7, winning the latter.

In 2014 Shukla made his Bollywood debut with a supporting role in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. He expanded his on‑screen presence with hosting assignments such as Savdhaan India and India’s Got Talent (seasons 6 and 7).
