Early life and background

Sija Rose George was born on 11 June 1992 and grew up in Muscat, Oman, where she attended the Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir. She completed a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a path she had wanted since childhood. Although she trained in journalism, a modelling opportunity while on holiday in Kerala led her toward the entertainment industry and ultimately to acting.

Career

Sija Rose entered films in 2012 with appearances across Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam projects. Her early credits that year include the Kannada film Magadi, the Tamil film Kozhi Koovuthu in which she played Thulasi, and the Malayalam film Ustad Hotel, where she appeared as Fazeeha. She has taken on diverse roles, including parts that showcased classical dance skills; in Masani (2013) and Madhavanum Malarvizhiyum (2014) she portrayed a Bharatanatyam dancer.

Throughout the 2010s Sija worked steadily in Malayalam cinema. Several of her films were released on the same day in January 2013, and she later appeared in titles such as Nellikka (2015), Milli (2015), Kavi Uddheshichathu..? (2016) and Udanpirappe (2021). In 2015 she portrayed Ameena Bichal, the fiancee of Moideen, in the period drama Ennu Ninte Moideen. In 2016 she expanded her filmmaking experience by working as an assistant director on the Hindi film Traffic, a role she described as offering a hands-on education in what happens behind the camera.

Sija continued to take on notable parts, and in 2022 she played Teena, the wife of the character portrayed by Suraj Venjaramoodu, in the Malayalam film Roy. Her performance in that film drew positive attention.
