Sritej was born on 22 August 1987 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He grew up in a family where his father worked as a farmer and initially hoped his son would pursue a career in the Indian Police Service. Sritej spent part of his youth in Hyderabad for IPS training, but he moved into the film industry instead.
