Early life and background

Sruthi Lakshmi was born Sruthi Jose on 8 September 1990 in Kannur, Kerala. Raised in a Malayali family, she completed her schooling at Government Higher Secondary School, Sreekandapuram, Kannur, and went on to graduate from Mar Ivanios College in Trivandrum. She belongs to the Knanaya Catholic community.

From an early age she trained in Indian classical dance, a discipline that has remained part of her public profile and work as a performer.

Career

Sruthi’s acting career began as a child artist. She appeared in Malayalam films and television from 2000 onward, with early film work credited in productions from that period and child roles on Malayalam TV serials in the early 2000s. Over the following decade she moved into adult roles in both film and television, taking a mix of supporting and lead parts.

Her Malayalam film credits include roles across the 2000s and 2010s, such as appearances in Romeo (2007), Swantham Bharya Zindabad (2010), Veeraputhran (2011), Pachuvum Kovalanum (2011), Ithu Manthramo Thanthramo Kuthanthramo (2013), Mizhi Thurakku (2014), Ithu Thaanda Police (2016) where she played a lead role, Al Mallu (2020) and Aarattu Mundan (2022). She has also worked in Tamil-language productions, including the 2012 film Paraseega Mannan and the 2021 TV series Nee Varuvai Ena where she played Gowri, and the 2022 Colors Tamil series Namma Madurai Sisters as Indhrani.

On television she has been a familiar presence in serials and reality shows. Early television work includes child-artist roles on series such as Nakshathrangal and Detective Anand. As an adult she appeared in Flowers TV’s Pokkuveyil (2016) as Isha Aravind and Surya TV’s Avaril Oraal (2017) as Ishita, and played Nimisha in the Flower TV series Kathayariyathe (2020). She made a cameo appearance in Surya TV’s Swantham Sujatha (2022).

Sruthi has also been active in non-fiction television formats: she co-participated with her husband Avin Anto on Surya TV’s Super Jodi (2018), appeared on Mazhavil Manorama’s Thakarppan Comedy (2018), served as a mentor on Zee Keralam’s Dance Kerala Dance (2018), and took part in game and reality shows such as Boeing Boeing (2019), Comedy Utsavam (2021) as host, and Mahduram Shobhanam (2021) as a dancer. In 2022 she appeared as a judge on Asianet’s Comedy Stars season 3 and on Flowers TV’s Top Singer season 2. In 2023 she was a participant in Bigg Boss Malayalam.

Beyond acting, Sruthi has worked as a model for clothing brands and makeup artists, including modelling work for Kappa TV’s Page 3 in 2019. She owns a unisex beauty salon, Sruthi Lakshmi’s Beauty Zone, located in Thrissur, Kerala.
