Early life and background

Sudhansh Pant was born on 14 February 1967 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his school education at St. Joseph’s College, Nainital, and went on to earn a B. Tech (Hons.) from IIT Kharagpur. After graduating, he briefly worked as a corporate trainee in Mumbai before leaving the job to prepare for India’s civil services examination. During his preparation he taught at a school in Nainital.

Career

Pant joined the Indian Administrative Service in the 1991 batch and was allotted the Rajasthan cadre. Early in his administrative career he served as Collector and District Magistrate in several districts of Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Bhilwara and Jaipur. He also led state public utilities and enterprises, serving as Chairman and Managing Director of the State Power Transmission Corporation, state power distribution companies and the State Renewable Energy Corporation.

Within the Rajasthan government he has held senior positions such as Secretary in the Mines and Petroleum Department, Commissioner of the Jaipur Development Authority, and Secretary of the Urban Local Bodies and Housing Department.
