Sudhir Sangwan Biography
Sudhir Sangwan is an Indian former lawyer who later worked as a contractor and personal secretary. He became widely known for his association with TikTok-
Early life and backgroundSudhir Sangwan was born in Nuran Khera village, Gohana, in Sonipat district of Haryana. He completed an LLB and began his professional life practicing law in Gohana, where he was a member of the Gohana Bar Association. Beyond the courtroom, Sangwan has lived and worked in parts of Haryana, including Rohtak, and later moved to the Gurgaon area when he rented a flat in a Gurugram society in 2022.
Career
After a period practising as a lawyer, Sangwan left regular legal practice and pursued several other ventures. He ran a poultry farm near his village, though that business did not succeed. He then worked as a middleman arranging government subsidies for poly house farmers and spent time working as a contractor.
Sangwan first met Sonali Phogat during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections through an acquaintance with connections to performers and artists. He joined Phogat’s circle and became her personal assistant. Initially working behind the scenes for several months, he later assisted her publicly during political campaigning, including the 2019 legislative assembly elections when Phogat contested the Adampur seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.
In his role as Phogat’s aide, Sangwan organized travel and logistics, arranging luxury vehicles for campaign use. Over time he assumed responsibility for a range of personal and household matters, reportedly having access to her keys, financial instruments and mobile phone. Accounts in the media describe Sangwan as increasingly embedded in Phogat’s daily life and decision-making.
Public profile
Sangwan’s public profile is closely linked to his association with Sonali Phogat. He has been described in the media as her personal secretary and was visible alongside her at events. He has been characterised as someone who preferred to remain close to political figures and as an intermediary who helped introduce people from the entertainment world to Phogat.
Several episodes in Sangwan’s life received public attention. Media reports say he has three children and that his wife worked as a JBT teacher in Rohtak. Physical details reported include a height of approximately 172 cm and brown eyes.
Controversies and legal matters
Reports in the public domain list multiple controversies connected to Sangwan’s activities. During his work arranging subsidies for poly house farmers, he was accused of withholding funds intended for beneficiaries. Earlier, a landlord reportedly accused him of wrongful occupation of rented premises. After Sonali Phogat’s death in August 2022, police investigations and media coverage focused on Sangwan’s actions on the night she fell ill in Goa. Authorities say CCTV footage placed him with Phogat at locations in North Goa, and investigators took Sangwan into custody as part of the inquiry. Reports describe video clips that investigators reviewed, and the Goa police reported details of their interrogation and the timeline of events they reconstructed.
Family and personal life
Sangwan is married and his household has included his parents, wife and children. Media reports note he named Sonali Phogat as his wife on rental documentation for a Gurugram flat in 2022. The available information identifies his wife by occupation as a JBT teacher but does not provide her name. Beyond that, public accounts mention his parents and three children without further personal detail.
Latest updates
Public reporting around Sangwan intensified after Sonali Phogat’s death in August 2022, when investigators reviewed CCTV footage from venues in Goa and arrested Sangwan as part of the probe. Subsequent news coverage has covered aspects of the investigation and the roles described by police and other sources. Other previously reported allegations and legal complaints linked to his activities as a middleman and tenant have also appeared in the media record.
Public image and perceptions
Media narratives portray Sangwan as a figure who moved from legal practice into a variety of trades, and later became a close aide to a high-profile entertainer and politician. Accounts emphasize his proximity to power and influence over access to Phogat during the period of their association. At the same time, his reported involvement in disputes and the criminal investigation that followed Phogat’s death have shaped how he is presented in public reporting.
