Sumeet Saigal was born on 18 February 1966 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Raised in a family with film connections—his father Krishan Saigal worked as a cinematographer and his uncles Naresh and Ramesh Saigal were involved in film production and direction—Sumeet grew up around the industry that would shape his professional life.

Career

Sumeet Saigal entered the film industry as an actor, making his debut in 1987 with Insaniyat Ke Dushman. Across the late 1980s and through the 1990s he appeared in roughly thirty films, often performing supporting roles alongside leading stars of the era. One of the performances he is best remembered for came in the 1990 film Bahaar Aane Tak, particularly for the song sequence "Kali Teri Choti Hai Paranda Tera Lal Ni." His last on-screen acting credits date to 1995, with appearances in Saajan Ki Baahon Mein and Sauda.

After stepping away from acting, Saigal returned to the film world from behind the camera. In 2000 he founded a production company called Sumeet Arts, which specialized in dubbing and retitling South Indian films into Hindi. He later produced a video song for the film Red: The Dark Side and made his credited film-production debut in 2010 with Rokkk, which starred Tanushree Dutta and Udita Goswami.
