Early life and background

Sumit Goswami was born on 18 November 1996 in Daulati Village in the Sonepat district of Haryana. Raised in a family that initially did not encourage his musical ambitions, he developed an interest in singing at a young age. He learned aspects of music from his grandfather, who composed raagini, and began writing songs while still at school. His education included time at Polytechnic Engineering College in Haryana.

Despite parental pressure to pursue engineering, Sumit continued to perform at school and college events, balancing studies with a growing passion for music. After finishing his studies he worked night shifts at a private company while composing songs during the day, determined to build a career in music.

Career

Sumit made his debut as a recording artist in 2018 with the song Karobaar, which he released without informing his family. Although that first release did not immediately attract large viewership, it helped him gain support from his parents. He found wider recognition after the audio release of the track Gangwar (with Bawli Tared) caught on; he later released a music video for the song on YouTube featuring Vicky Kajla and it increased his popularity in Haryana.

Following that breakthrough, Sumit expanded his involvement in music production. In 2019 he directed and composed the Haryanvi music video Yaar Ki Shaadi. He continued to write, compose and perform a series of regional tracks, including Red Eye (2019), Feelings (2020), Jaane Meri (2020), Sample Yaara Ke (2021), and Haryanvi Swag (2022). He has also appeared in numerous Haryanvi music videos such as Tora (2020), Raaj (2020), Yaara (2021), and Pyar Mera (2021).

Throughout his career Sumit has been credited as a singer, lyricist and composer working primarily in the Haryanvi language. He frequently acknowledges the support of family members and friends in his work, including his cousin Shanky, whose name appears in songs as a mark of appreciation.
