Early life and backgroundSuresh Albela was born Suresh Sharma on 1 January 1986 in Chauth Ka Barwara in Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan. He grew up in the same village and attended a local government school until class nine. While still a student, friends encouraged him to adopt the name "Albela," and he continued to use that name professionally.
After completing his schooling he moved on to higher education in Kota, Rajasthan, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. His family background included a father who worked both as a farmer and a police constable; his mother, who later died of cancer, is also noted in reports.
Career
Suresh Albela began his performing career as a hasya kavi, appearing at stage shows and kavi sammelans across Rajasthan. His early work on the regional circuit led to wider opportunities as he started performing in other states.
An important break came when an assistant director, Hemant Sharma, noticed him at one of his shows and contacted him about auditions for The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Albela first auditioned in 2007 but did not clear that round. He returned to audition again in 2008 and won the competition that year. One of his routines, a comedic Sanskrit-style description of actress Mallika Sherawat, became notably popular from that appearance.
Following the win, Albela was invited to perform at numerous stage events and kavi sammelans and began appearing on television. His TV credits include Indian Mazak League and Mazaak Mazaak Mein in 2016, as well as appearances on shows titled Comedy Ke Sartaj Mr. Bajaj and Kavi Yudh. In 2021 he presented a show bearing his own name, Suresh Albela Show. He continued to remain active on television and in 2022 took part in Sony TV’s India’s Laughter Champion.
