Surya Narayana (Radio Jockey) Biography

Surya Narayana is an Indian radio jockey and performer from Andhra Pradesh who rose to prominence through Red FM and television work. Known for his mimicry

Early life and background
Surya Narayana was born on April 1, 1991, in Pasuvullanka, Andhra Pradesh. He grew up in the state and later attended Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce. He went on to earn a Master of Commerce from Dr. C.S.N. Degree & P.G. College, Bhimavaram.

Personal details available in public records note that he is unmarried. His mother’s name is Saraswathi; details about his father have not been published. He had a brother who passed away from kidney failure. Surya’s hobbies include travelling and mimicry—an interest that would become central to his career.

Career
Surya began working in media with television appearances and later moved into radio and film. His earliest TV role was as a video jockey on Gemini Comedy in 2014. He made his film debut in 2016 with a role in Guntur Talkies and has since taken on additional acting projects, including an appearance in the 2017 film Garuda Vega.

Mimicry and radio became defining elements of his public persona. Friends submitted his résumé to Red FM without his prior knowledge, and he auditioned more out of curiosity than conviction. From among hundreds of applicants he advanced through the selection process and joined Red FM Telugu in Hyderabad, where he spoke on air and wrote his own scripts. He has described writing his comedy material as a direct way to express his thoughts to listeners.

Surya also expanded his on-screen presence through web and television projects. In 2017 he appeared in the YouTube web series Flat No. 706, and that same year he joined Sakshi TV as a mimicry artist and hosted a program titled Mimicry Mela. In 2022 he participated in the Telugu reality series Bigg Boss 6, where he performed mimicry during his entry.

Public profile
Surya became widely recognized for a character known as Konda Babu on TV9 Telugu, which helped raise his profile beyond radio audiences. His work on Red FM and television has been grounded in his mimicry skills—a talent he cultivated during his student years and for which he was awarded recognition.

Moving to Hyderabad posed cultural and financial challenges. He has spoken about initially not knowing English well and struggling with local slang, and he has described early financial hardship that led him to take low-paid mimicry gigs to make ends meet. He has also shared that homesickness and the difficulty of adapting to a new city affected him during his early months away from home.

Surya has expressed a creative ambition to explore diverse acting roles. He has specifically stated an interest in portraying villainous characters in films, explaining his attraction to the freedom such roles offer an actor.

Latest updates
In addition to continuing work in radio and television, Surya’s recent high-profile appearance was on Bigg Boss Telugu season 6 in 2022. His mimicry of the show’s host was noted at the time of his entry. Earlier projects that remain part of his visible body of work include Red FM programming, the web series Flat No. 706, and the TV program Mimicry Mela on Sakshi TV.

Surya remains known for combining on-air presentation with original scriptwriting, and for leveraging his mimicry background into a career spanning radio, television and film.
