Early life and background

Anumolu Sushanth was born on 18 March in California, United States, and grew up connected to Hyderabad, Telangana, which is listed as his hometown. He attended The Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet and later Gautami Junior College in Hyderabad. For higher education he moved to the United States and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.

Before pursuing acting full time, Sushanth worked as an electrical engineer with United Technologies Corporation in the USA. He comes from a family with long ties to the Indian film industry: his maternal grandfather was the actor and producer Nageswara Rao Akkineni and his mother is Naga Susheela Akkineni. His paternal grandfather A. V. Subba Rao was a prolific film producer who led Prasad Art Pictures and produced more than two dozen films across the 1970s and 1980s.

Career

Sushanth made his screen debut in the Telugu film Kalidasu in 2008. Following that launch, he continued to build a career in Telugu cinema with roles in a range of films including Current, Adda, Dongaata and Chi..La..Sou.. His early training in acting included time at the Kreating Charakters training school in Mumbai, where he studied alongside his cousin Naga Chaitanya.

His background in engineering and a period working abroad preceded his return to India to focus on films.
