Swagatha Sundarakrishnan was born and raised in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She began singing at a very young age and received formal instruction in Carnatic music during her school years. By her own account, she won a national gold medal in a Carnatic competition when she was sixteen. Swagatha attended TVS Lakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Madurai and later earned a BTech from Amrita School of Engineering in Bangalore.

Career

Swagatha’s professional work centers on playback singing for Tamil films and independent music projects. Her recorded film debut in Tamil came with the song “Aalaalilo” from the film Diya (2018).
