His childhood was spent in a rural setting where his family cultivated crops such as cotton, redgram, peanuts, bananas and lemons. He completed his schooling at Mary Matha English Medium High School in Thullur and attended PB Siddhartha Junior College in Vijayawada. For higher education he studied at Sarada Degree College in Vijayawada and later earned postgraduate degrees from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University in Hyderabad, including a Master of Performing Arts and a Master of Philosophy.

Teja was active in student leadership during his college years in Vijayawada, serving in a state-level role with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). His early interests included public speaking, theatre work and event preparation, which led him into stage performance across Andhra Pradesh. Gardening and yoga are listed among his hobbies, and he maintains a terrace garden influenced by organic growing methods.

Career

Teja began his performing career in theatre, earning recognition for stage work that included the title role in the mythic-historical play Barbareekudu. His work in theatre won him the Andhra Pradesh State government’s Nandi Award in 2013 for his role in the play Kalyani. The visibility he gained on stage brought him to the attention of film industry professionals and opened a path into cinema.

He worked in the direction department early on, assisting and collaborating with filmmakers such as Pradeep Reddy, Pradeep Advaitham, Mahesh Kathi and Sriram Adittya. He served as an associate on films including Billa Ranga (2014) and Maine Pyar Kiya (2014), worked on Pesarattu (2014), and assisted on Bhale Manchi Roju (2015). He also worked as first assistant director on Devadas (2018) and provided assistance during the making of Sita Ramam (2022).

As an actor, Teja’s first film appearance was in Neeku Naaku Dash Dash (2012). He reached wider notice for his role as Saketudu in the pan-India epic Baahubali: The Beginning (2015). Following that, he appeared in films such as Thanu Vachenanta (2016), Aakashavaani (2021) — in which he played Sambadu — Bheemla Nayak (2022) as a police officer, and Mukhachitram (2022) as Dr. Rajashekar. He also played SP Parasuram in the streaming crime-drama series Parampara (2021) and its 2022 sequel, and was later cast in the Amazon Prime supernatural thriller Dhootha.

His career includes both on-screen roles and off-screen direction. In 2023 he made his directorial debut with the Telugu web series Save the Tigers, which streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. He has continued to teach and train aspiring actors through workshops while balancing acting and direction projects.
