Tilak Varma was born on 8 November 2002 in Hyderabad, Telangana. He grew up in a family that faced financial constraints, and those early struggles shaped his path into professional cricket. Tilak attended Crescent Model English School in Riyasathnagar, Hyderabad, and developed a passion for the sport at a young age.

When he was about ten, Tilak enrolled at the Legala Sports Academy in Telangana, where he came under the guidance of coach Salam Bayash. His coach played a formative role in his development, supporting him through training and, at times, covering expenses when his family could not afford them.
