Early life and background

Trisha Krishnan Iyer was born on 4 May 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She spent part of her childhood in New York while her father was posted there, and grew up primarily in Chennai. She attended Sacred Heart Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Church Park, Chennai, and later studied at Ethiraj College for Women, where she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration. Trisha trained in ballet for several years during her teens and developed interests in travelling, horse riding, music, reading and swimming. She follows Hinduism and is of Palghat Iyer (Brahmin) heritage.

Career

Trisha began her public career as a model and beauty pageant contestant. In 1999 she won the Miss Salem title and later Miss Chennai; she also won the 'Beautiful Smile' subtitle at the Miss India contest in 2001. Early commercial work included print and television advertising and a 2000 Hindi music video appearance.

Her film debut in Tamil came with a small role in Jodi (1999). She went on to build a multi-lingual filmography, working across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam cinema. Notable early Telugu appearances include Lesa Lesa and later Varsham and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, which brought her critical recognition. In Tamil, she has appeared in films such as Enakku 20 Unakku 18, Abhiyum Naanum, Endrendrum Punnagai, Kodi, 96 and the historical epic Ponniyin Selvan: I. Her Hindi debut was Khatta Meetha (2010). She has also worked in Kannada (Power) and Malayalam (Hey Jude).

In recent years she expanded into digital projects, playing the title role in the Tamil web series Brinda (2024) which streamed on SonyLIV.
