Early life and background

Tushar Uday Deshpande was born on 15 May 1995 in Mumbai and grew up in Kalyan. He completed his college education at R A Podar College of Commerce & Economics. From a young age he traveled regularly to train at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana in Dadar, a ground known for producing prominent cricketers.

Career

Deshpande developed through Mumbai’s age-group structure, representing the city at Under-16 and Under-19 levels before breaking into Mumbai’s senior side. He made his List A debut for Mumbai in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, and in that tournament he recorded a five-wicket haul during the quarter-final stage.

His domestic performances led to selection for higher-profile squads: in August 2019 he was named in the India Blue squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy, and he has been part of India A. At franchise level, Delhi Capitals purchased him ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League season. He has worn jersey number 6 for India A and number 96 in the IPL setup.
