Umair Jaswal was born on 20 December 1986 in Islamabad, Pakistan. He grew up in Islamabad and completed his schooling at Islamabad Model College for Boys F-10/3. He went on to study at Bahria University, Islamabad, and holds postgraduate qualifications in geosciences. Jaswal is Pakistani by nationality and is comfortable in several languages including English, Urdu and Punjabi.

Career

Jaswal began his public musical journey after being noticed by guitarist Khurram Waqar in 2008 and joining the rock band Qayaas as a vocalist. With Qayaas he recorded a number of Urdu songs across the late 2000s and early 2010s, including tracks released in 2008 and 2009 and further material through 2013.

Alongside his band work, Jaswal has built an extensive solo career. He has appeared multiple times on the televised music series Coke Studio, performing songs such as "Charkha Nolakha" (with Atif Aslam), "Khayal," "Sammi Meri Waar," "Khaki Banda," "Sasu Mangay," "Chal Raha Hoon," and "Har Funn Maula" across different seasons. His recorded credits include the single "Na Rahoon" (2018) and he contributed as an actor to the Urdu film Yalghaar (2017) playing a captain, and made his television acting debut in the 2016 Geo TV drama Mor Mahal as Nawab Asif Jahan.
